House of God, Forever – Jon Foreman

I won’t lie, I was very slow to warm up to Jon Foreman. His band Switchfoot started out among the legions of overproduced late 90s pop-punk that was an affront to my Bad Religion inspired sensibilities. Even worse, and word came out that they were a Christian band, they were suddenly the property of the Megachurch Industrial Complex. Then I saw Foreman play a solo acoustic set at the Q Conference. It occurred to me that behind the studio sounds and the hype machine was a song writer, trying to tell the story of Jesus.

This song has sense become an anthem to me. In my most stressful moments I can be found huddling in a corner, earbuds jammed, and eyes squeezed shut, meditating on truth.
