Capitalism has had a good run. I might still argue that it is still the lesser of two evils. A lot of one’s viewpoint on these things comes down to one’s viewpoint on what the role of The State should be.
 
I think we need to make sure we don’t overlook the difference between the need for legislative economic reform, and the need for cultural change. A culture of selfish entitlement without social consciousness will always breed evil, either in a select powerful few (communist Russia) or in the many (American today). 
People were afraid to leave their dark and freezing homes after Sandy in and around NY, NY, because of looters and vandals. People in Japan had very little of the same fear after the tsunami because Japanese culture is highly community oriented.
