@dckludt I would agree that your theology is necessary to pull it off (as with any good ministry approach). That being said, I think there needs to be some serious discussion of what it’s going to take to really pull off such a ministry approach. Including discussion about how to get a “real job” and how to create a stable enough environment that you don’t burn out your core team overnight. Let’s also not get legalistic about this. Tentmaking is Biblical, but only one of the approaches Paul used.

Hey man, hope we get a chance to connect at Missio next month. We’ve had a few years experiencing and experimenting with bivo ministry and shared leadership in our community in east hollywood. I honestly am not sure if there’s a way to successfully do bivo ministry without a theology and structure for shared leadership. We definitely don’t have all the answers, but would love to talk more about our experience and hear more about yours!

@danwhitejr Bi-Vocational ministry is inevitable in Post-Christendom, which is okay because it is also a Biblical model. I’m just not sure I’ve seen it “done well” yet. I’d love to hear more about what you’ve experienced. I know in my life I’ve found it incredibly limiting and usually unfulfilling.
