I can’t help thinking I should be hearing it from more Christian voices. I’m maybe a little embarrassed this isn’t(?). Isn’t “Simplicity” one of the spiritual disciplines?

I heard military families use ruthless rules like: Don’t unpack everything when you move, just unpack things as you use them; whatever is still in a box when the next duty-order comes in gets given away. Hang all your clothes one way when you move in, and turn the hanger around when things come back from the wash; what hasn’t been worn in a month or two gets given away.

I really should consider some of these.

Not comparable, but I’ve been thinking of replacing my coffee maker with a thermo pot, since it’ll have the same counter-top footprint but be useful for any kind of hot-water need (baby-bottles, tea, and of course coffee).http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Japanese_Electric_Water_Boiler_20101026.jpg
