https://www.chrismorton.info/2013/06/11/the-church-is-political/ Growth and Mission Mon, 24 Oct 2016 18:04:09 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.4.32 https://www.chrismorton.info/2013/06/11/the-church-is-political/#comment-8995 Tue, 11 Jun 2013 18:49:14 +0000 http://www.chrismorton.info/?p=4803#comment-8995 Shocking, isn’t it?  Just our existance as the body of Christ makes us a political entity… but the “rules” of our politics are dictated, not by a “power over” and “hierarchal” leadership quality, not even if minorities are given a voice because it still means that someone is dictating to someone else…  It’s a servant role, a politic where everyone is a servant of everyone else and, rather than saying, “I’m the leader and I’m doing this because I’m a benevolent ruler, enacting these things for the common good” we are saying, “I’m the leader and I’m doing this because you are a person whom I love.”  It’s characterized by sacrificing the self, giving up personal power, and taking a stance BENEATH everyone instead of ABOVE everyone…
This was the BIGGEST take away I got from Yoder…
