Love this: “Theology: Don’t Try to be a Place” lol.
I think that instinct churches had to try and create a(n) (alternate?) third place is also tied to how Churches were mistakenly functioning like businesses. There is a little bit of businessy scaffolding that’s generally necessary for a church in our context, but Starbucks made a “Third Place” because it was really good for business. What is the “business” of the church? Is it automatic that more people in the doors equals more discipleship, equals more conversion growth, etc? No, as it turns out.

This wasn’t highlighted as a main point, but “Pray for opportunities, and be ready to be interrupted” seems like a key rule for a Spirit-led life; yet just being ready to be interrupted is something so many of us have such a hard time with.

Great job, Chris
