Just wanted to comment and maybe add a bit of nuance.
I absolutely agree that the Jesus way to defeat ISIS is to, as local communities of Christ followers, care and love the refugees.
Jesus persuaded with love and truth, and he offered/offers everyone the choice to follow him or not.
As for Christians, we too have the ability to show the Jesus way with our love, acts of kindness and mercy, and truth speaking. We persuade by living life with others to bear witness to the power of Christ living in our lives that gives us the ability to love others without giving in to fear.
I don’t think it is our responsibility/duty to convert others, nor is it wise to think it is; it is the Spirit’s work to change the heart…while we of course do our part to love and bring the gospel. I mention this for fear that we forget that people are not projects, but rather God’s image-bearers regardless of faith, creed, or lifestyle. People to love, not people to convert…
Anyway, this response probably reveals more of where I’m at than any actual critique of your article. Again, thank you for your thoughtful post!!
