Friday Roundup

Chris —  July 27, 2012
  • I won’t lie to you: I’ve been thinking about Batman all week.
  • I just finished week two at my new job as social media moderator at PCMi.
  • I’m trying hard to get back on a blog schedule. Enjoy.
  • This is the Austin Coffeeshop that acts as my second office.
  • Had lunch with John Chandler this week to discuss our upcoming Missio Alliance/Ecclesia Texas event.  I’m counting down the days!
  • Considering some long overdue blog redesigns.
  • Had the chance to take in Motown Mondays a few times recently.  The Highball is on of the best parts of Austin.
  • I’m looking for an affordable place to spend two weeks while I’m in Pasadena, California for classes at Fuller.  Any ideas?

Friday Round Up

    • I have the pleasure of being the Social Media and MicroConference coordinator for PlantR.  We’ll be hanging out with Alan Hirsch next week.  You should come.
    • The heat broke in Austin, at least for a bit.  It’s really a great place to live 9 months out of the year.
    • I’ve had a few weeks in between classes to do some fun reading and fun writing.
    • A few of the posts I’ve written lately have gotten a lot of good response both online and in person.  This is an important subject for me (here and here), and one I’m trying to do some more intentional writing about it.  eBook maybe?
    • Some books I’ve been reading: The Return of the Prodigal Son, Gotham Central, Today We Are Rich, and a lot of Star Wars.
    • Stevie Wonder is headlining ACL this weekend.  Someday I hope to have enough disposable income to enjoy living in the live music capital of the world…
    • If you don’t follow The Daily What you are missing out.  These  are the two best things that the interwebs have provided in a long time.

  • Currently Reading (for fun): The Complete Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Vol. 2, 100 Bullets, The Pastor
  • Currently Reading (for school): A ginormous stack of articles on Mission by guys like Bosch and Hiebert.
  • I am counting down the days until Let’s Kill Hitler!
  • Bought my second pair of Keens.  They’re the only thing my oddly wide feet fit into that doesn’t make me look 70 years old.
  • Today begins Tax Free Weekend in Texas.  I work in a mall :(
  • I am doing a lot of praying and seeking right now, which is difficult.  Two major areas of my life seem to be in an Autumnal season, which is making me wonder about where to go next.
  • Next up on my To Read stack Dark Night of the Soul.
  • I’m really excited to get to help with PlantR.  We’re doing some cool things this fall.
  • Looking for recipes that last all week.  Last week I made this amazing King Ranch Casserole.  Suggestions?
  • And for those who haven’t seen it, I now present to you: SPACE GANDALF!

Friday Quote Up

Chris —  July 29, 2011

“The New Testament communities never considered capitulation to the naive dreams of “all men becoming brothers” or of “millions being embraced.” In a very realistic manner they sought to achieve fraternal love within their own ranks and constantly make simultaneous effors to transcend their boundaries. In this fashion an ever increasing number of people was drawn into the fraternity of the church, and neighborly relationships became possible.” Lofink, Jesus and Community, 114

  • Looks rather reminiscent of Inception, doesn’t it?  Fine by me.
  • Got to say goodbye to Harry, Ron and Hermione without waiting for the midnight screening thanks to my Matt Alexander.  Thanks dude.
  • Working out my thoughts on Harry Potter as Christ figure for an upcoming post.  Here’s what J.K. Rowling has to say about that.
  • Working on a paper for the MAGL wherein I create a model for assessing character development, and then apply it.  This article about porn helped.
  • Can’t find anything but lousy bootlegs of the Dark Knight Rises tease trailer.  In the meantime, I give you this jewel.
