Ugandan Update

We spent our day at Luwanda Orphanage, about a 10 minute drive outside of town. The orphanage was started about 5 years ago a part of a local church planting movement. A vision was cast to plant 200 churches in Uganda and Kenya in 20 years. They’re at about 120 in about 10 years.

The orphanage, school and church sit on about 33 acres on a large rock that over looks the surrounding village. Rumor has it that the land was cheap, because it was once a burial ground and thought to be haunted. They have 90 children, all AIDS orphans from around the country. These children are all HIV negative, however, they hope to add a doctor to their staff, so they can house HIV positive children as well.

We are spending our days painting a new school building, and our evenings fellowshipping with and encouraging the Muzungu (white people) missionaries. It is a stark contrast to our previous experiences. Although we are working hard, the cool mountain air and delicious organic pineapple make it feel like a vacation.
