Permission to Dream

I had lunch with my friend John the other day.  He asked me a simple question I used to answer quickly:

“If money wasn’t an issue, what would you do?”

The problem is, I’ve tried to live for those things, and go after those dreams.  Some have been great successes.  Some have left couch surfing and licking my wounds.

It’s hard, if you’ve dreamed, not succeeded the way you hoped, to dream again.  Even the act of verbalizing feels like a commitment, a set up for another disappointment.

How do you move past that?  How do you give yourself permission to dream?
