What exactly is going on in North Korea?  We hear crazy things about Kim Jong Il’s collections of American memorabilia.  We worry about nuclear weapons.  But we seldom hear about the violations of human rights.

Recently, Space 12 hosted a film by Liberty in North Korea.  LiNK is an organization of young people who raise money, find North Korean refugees in China, and help them travel safely to other countries.

After watching Hiding, I came away with the general impression that no one really knows what is going on in North Korea.  Imagine a life so bad that you would choose to be sex trafficked into China.  Imagine three generations of your family being imprisoned for life because you disagree with the official party line.  Imagine living in a prison camp so large that it shows up on Google Earth.

Again and again, our God is described as caring for the widow, orphan and stranger in a strange land.  Today we call them refugees.  Clearly, if anyone should care about North Korea, it’s Christ’s followers.
